As for another type of capacity shortage, it is actually a "back up" that manufacturers have prepared for users in consideration of storage security. For example, open the boot disk of Windows 10 to see the capacity (if you divide the zones, add them together), you will definitely find that even according to the standard of 1000 carryies, its capacity is not enough!
The lack of capacity on this disk is actually a hidden partition left by Windows 10, which stores some data needed for system operation and recovery. We just need to right-click the start menu and select "Disk Management" to see these hidden partitions. In the SSD, there is also reserved space left at the hardware level, that is, OP (Over-provisioning) space. Its size determines whether the SSD with the same storage chip is 512GB, 500GB, or 480GB. These reserved spaces can be used to make up for the capacity shortage caused by memory chip defects, optimize the storage process, rescue data after the end of life, etc. The designs of various manufacturers and even different models may have certain differences, and they are not compatible with the quality and positioning of SSDs. There is no necessary connection.
From this point of view, in fact, most of the so-called insufficient hard disk capacity is really normal. There is only one thing to note, that is, many friends buy newer and faster hard disks.
